OOC: I'm going to skip time a little... just to get things moving... eheh.
Maku blinked himself awake and nodded quickly, standing stiffly. He knelt down again to whisper, "We're leaving come sunrise. Whether or not you come with us is your decision." He had settled on that plan, finally. If they did mean any harm, there wasn't exactly anything for them to take or damage but Ji, and the stallion was too old to be of much value anyway.
Stretching, he took Ashan's place to watch.
The night passed uneventfully, and Maku found it hard to keep himself awake until the sun began to peek over the horizon. Ji had stirred some hour beforehand, and the man had spent that last waiting with him and keeping him quiet. The old stallion was grazing now, as Maku went to wake Kori. As though bothered by the idea of a day like the one before, Ji let out a snort and stomped one hoof against the grass.

OOC That’s okay. ^_^ And Lali is very late posting, but has been busy and begs forgiveness. IC Taari had woken a little before dawn, mostly out of habit but partly because he’d resolved to be up early and ready for anything that might happen. He sat up when the horse snorted, running a hand through his hair and looking around. Pleased to see that Maku and Kori hadn’t snuck off during the night, he threw back his blanket and put his boots on, then got up and went to wake Ashan. “Maku’s just waking Kori,” he said, when he’d shaken Ashan’s shoulder and the taller man had rolled over, blinking at him sleepily. Ashan rubbed his eyes clear of sleep, and sat up, nodding through a yawn and managing to say, “We’ll be leaving soon, then. Get ready.” Smiling, Taari went back to his own blankets and folded them up, delving into his pack for his flask of water and something to eat before he packed everything away properly. He wondered how Kori would react to their presence. They weren’t too experienced in dealing with children, after all, so pretty much anything could happen.

Kori seemed very reluctant to get up. Maku was kneeling next to her for a good five minutes, shaking her shoulder and repeating her name. "Kori," he said, losing patience, "get up, or we're leaving without you."
The girl groaned, blinking her eyes open. "Who's we?" she mumbled, sitting up before spotting Taari and Ashan. She didn't react at first, just stared at them in slight wonder. Her eyes were dark brown, almost black, and her hair fell in dark waves to her shoulders. She blinked at them once, twice, and was on them in an instant, jumping up and down like an excited puppy.
"Oooh, who are you? Are you coming with us? What are you doing out here? Do you know the Syek too? Are you Maku's friends? I'm Kori by the way who are you?" It seemed impossible for such a little girl to talk so fast, but Kori was pulling it off with ease.

Ashan gave Taari a helpless look, overwhelmed by Kori's enthusiastic greeting, and Taari smiled, laughing a little.
"Hello Kori," he said, moving over to crouch beside Ashan, who took the opportunity to pack away his blankets and have a drink while Kori's attention was elsewhere.
"I'm Taari, and this is Ashan," he introduced. "We're heading the same way as you and Maku, so we," and his gesture included all three men, "agreed to travel together. As long as you don't mind."
Ashan just rolled his eyes and let Taari do the talking, wondering if Kori was this energetic all the time - if so, Taari would have a lot of apologising to do when they finally parted ways with this pair.
OOC *surveys weapons* Okay, how would you like to kill me for taking so long (and then not posting brilliantly...)? We have, katana, longbow, crossbow, a variety of guns, poison, noose, knives...

OOC: How about death by hugging? *hugs*
IC: "Ahaha, yay!" Kori seemed delighted at the news, and promptly spun in a little circle. Maku groaned slightly and went off to attend to Ji. "Yay, yay, yay! Maku is so boring, you wouldn't even believe it! We went by a stream the other day and he practically bit my head off for wanting to go swimming-"
"I did not bite your head off," Maku said indignantly, glancing over his shoulder. "I told you that we didn't have time to stop and swim."
"That's why I said almost," Kori shot back, but there was a grin on her face. "Where are you going? I don't even know where we're going, because Maku's a big meanie and won't tell me. I'm so glad you're here, even though I don't really know you, because I thought I was gonna be stuck with Maku forever, or at least until I get to go home. When am I going home, Maku?"
The man didn't even look at her, just stiffened and carried on as though he hadn't heard. Kori didn't seem disturbed in the least at his lack of response. "He does that a lot," she explained, her voice down a little bit as though she were sharing a secret.
OOC 'gain: Yay for italics!

OOC Are you sure you wouldn't like to reconsider that rather gentle method of murder? Death by papercuts, perhaps? (In other words... *is very very sorry...* ) IC Taari and Ashan exchanged glances, and then, as Taari covered his mouth with a hand to hide his giggles, Ashan couldn't help grinning. "You two should get on just fine," he told Taari, who pulled a face at him, then smiled at Kori. He was quite amused by the little girl's excitement - and if this was what she was like all the time, it was a wonder Maku hadn't gone mad already. "We're heading for Reilten, or thereabouts," he said to Kori. "Do you know where that is? I've got a map, I can show you if you'd like..." "Whoa, stop right there," Ashan interrupted, throwing Taari his bag, and putting his own on. "Don't even try and get her obsessed with maps. One of you is more than enough, thank you." Taari grinned at him, then lowered his voice to tell Kori, "I know just how you feel. Ashan does this a lot as well."

Kori grinned almost devilishly. "Then we'll have to stick together and get back, I guess!" she said cheerfully. "I don't know where Rie- Rei- where that place is," she said, not seeming too concerned about it. "I don't even know exactly where we're going. I just go where Maku tells me to."
Maku looked over, ready to go. "Right now I'm telling you to go forward," he said impatiently. "We're wasting time. We'll walk for now, Ji needs a break." He glanced at Ashan and Taari. "Unless either of you have anything more to get out of the way... ?"
