OOC: Torture! Torture! Tooooooortuuuuuure!
IC "Because you're lying." Logan spoke carefully, keeping any trace of doubt or fear from his voice. He hoped. "You're lying."
He had no way of being completely sure about it, but given what had happened the last time... that thought made a shiver run down his spine. Afraid? Logan was terrified. He had been since that night a few months ago, when everything took a turn for the worse. But there was no reason the Vicomte had to know that. "I'm not afraid, either," he added, swallowing.

OOC Oh, alright. ;D
IC The Vicomte started laughing, mockingly, and began to say something sarcastic in return. He stopped abruptly, turning away, teeth clenching, and shook his head to try and clear the buzzing that obscured all sound from the street. Raising his free hand to his head, he stood frozen for a moment, and then straightened as the buzzing faded a little. He held the cup out to Logan again, patience drained, and snarled, "Take it!"
And his eyes went blank for a split second. The snarl faded as he blinked, swallowed, and then said, "Logan, listen to me."
He shivered with sudden violence, but didn't move from his position, arm outstretched offering the cup to the young vampire, half turned towards him, caught in the middle of the movement. His eyes showed none of the Vicomte's anger, only pain and effort as he fought to hold on to control.
"My name is Laurence," he said quickly. "Don't be afraid - we'll do our best to protect you. You're our only chance. Now do exactly what I tell you, or he'll kill you."
The flash of pity he felt for the boy was quickly buried under the urgent need to get his message across before the struggle became too much for him. Accordingly, he didn't waste any more time on reassuring Logan, but instead gasped, "Take the cup. I'll have to let go so he remembers giving it to you, but as soon as you've got it I'll come back. I promise. Just don't drink it, whatever you do!"
He didn't doubt that he'd be able to return - Simon's breakthrough had weakened the Vicomte's hold over them a little, and he had no intention of letting go completely. He simply had to make the Vicomte believe he was in control, and then he would be able to return for a short while and explain a few more things to Logan. Having the Vicomte believe that Logan was under a blood-bond would be very useful as well.
So, before Logan had a chance to ask him anything else, he let a few threads of control slip away from him. His eyes slowly regained the Vicomte's fury.
Assailed by a roaring agony that made it almost impossible to think straight, the Vicomte choked, "Pas bien, pas... Take the cup, boy, do not anger me!"
OOC Sorry for not giving Logan a chance to respond - but Laurence will be back in a minute. ^_^

OOC: S'okay. ^_^ Logan will be glad that Laurence doesn't speak in rhyme.
IC Logan felt as though time were blasting past him and not letting him get a grasp on what was happening. So this was another one of the people inside the Vicomte's head? But before he could even get that down, he was left staring at an angry face and that cup of blood.
Take the cup. Easy enough. Flinching back a little, the boy reached out a hand and took the cup, his hand trembling just a bit as he wrapped his fingers around it.

The Vicomte struggled to give another order, raging internally now that he was so close to enslaving Logan, and yet held back by the minds of the others. Slowly, he was overwhelmed. Sound and light faded as he lost control, slipping gradually away instead of being roughly shoved aside like usual.
"He's getting stronger," Laurence remarked hoarsely as he shook his head and straightened up. He spared a smile for Logan this time, and ran a hand through his hair, stretching a little.
"Pour that down a drain somewhere," he suggested, glancing at the cup in Logan's hand. "You don't want to be left holding it when he comes back."

Confusion was sending his thoughts into turmoil, and Logan had to shake his head to be able to think straight. Taking a slow breath to calm himself, he glanced up and down along the alley until he spotted a drain not far from where they were standing. He looked away while the Vicomte's blood poured into the drain, and gave the cup a little shake before he straightened again and looked up at the older vampire.
"What is going on here?"
He was sick of this. Tired of being confused, tired of not knowing what to do. And now that he was speaking to a (hopefully) rational person that wasn't using rhymes, he intended to get some questions answered.

((Wonder if I just have a dirty mind but when you mentioned the Vicomte getting Logan to drink his blood, I had images of the older vampire seducing the boy... Yeah... *rubs eyes* I love this roleplay! I may or may not join as a slayer, but I'm certainly enjoying reading it :3))

OOC Egad, another poster on TAVOT! ^_^ No slash involved, I'm afraid - Ru doesn't do slash, and I'm happy to take a break from it every now and again. But all subtext is entirely in your mind. ;D I'm okay with having another character involved - as long as you've struggled through all the previous posts, because I have a bit of a plot planned that harks back to various things. And I'm midway through a reply... But if you can bear to wait maybe a day or two until I've got that sorted, I'll clarify the position everyone's in at the moment. That should make it easier to find your way in. ^_^

OOC Oh heavens. TAVOT, Ru, I love you both dearly and I have sorely neglected you... If there's anything I can do to make up for this, do tell me. IC The minute hand of the clock in the Source café moved on again. Exactly one hour after Cade had hung the phone up on the fake slayer, there were near-silent footsteps on the stairs, and the door opened in the café. Cade was already watching the door, and the smile he gave the woman who entered was full of relief. She nodded back, and strolled over to fall into the chair opposite him, appearing utterly relaxed and casual. He knew it was a front. Her clothes were bright - a fashionable emerald green cardigan hanging open over a plain sky-blue t-shirt, completing the casual look with a pair of light blue jeans and flourescent pink trainers. Her hair was dark brown, shoulder length, held back in a glitter-covered slide, though a few strands escaped here and there. Her skin was tanned - and naturally, lacking the orange glow of the bottled kind - and her eyes were brown, shot through with streaks of green and a permanently amused twinkle. She could not have looked much less like the traditional image of a vampire. "Kyle," she said by way of a greeting, and he raised his orange juice to her, responding, "Sara." She didn't bother to get herself a drink - judging from the colour in her cheeks she'd been out on the town the previous night, dealing with her own interests as well as protecting him. He hesitated a moment, then set the ball rolling and started their game again. Truth. "I got your note." "So what will you do?" she asked. Since questions remained questions, whether the turn was truth or lies, that was the first round. To keep the cycle going, he responded with a lie: "I'm not sure." "You going to stay in town?" she enquired, managing to sound disapproving and eager at the same time. He knew she wouldn't be keen on him leaving - after all, he was her contact with the vampires, the brains behind the operation, in all effect her closest companion. As well as being the one who'd sired her. He hesitated, then moved his foot a little. The bag rustled, the bottles of holy water clinking slightly, and he said truthfully, "I can't leave just yet. I have some unfinished business with a friend of mine. Actually, I was wondering if you'd care to give me a hand." She was midway through grinning, and saying, truthfully, "You know I will," when the door burst open and a woman and a man rushed in, crucifixes clutched in their hands. ~*~ Laurence looked tired, but smiled again, and said, “That’s a little complicated. I’m guessing you count us as part of the problem, but we’re not. You only really need to worry about the Vicomte. And possibly Saladin.” He was aware that probably wasn’t helping anything. "It's complicated," he sighed, and rubbed absently at the crucifix burn on his neck. "Alright, you deserve to know. We're a vampire, you know that much already. And Simon told you we're insane. There's five of us in total. Me, Simon, Luc - but we call him the Vicomte, and Raphael and Saladin, who you haven't met yet. Raphael's harmless. He's a religious fanatic, but he's a coward. It's the Vicomte and Saladin you need to be watching out for. Saladin's a killer. An utter idiot, most of the time, but still dangerous. And Simon warned you about the Vicomte." He paused, and then frowned, and said, "This probably isn't helping much, is it? Okay, okay." Pacing in a nervous circle for a few seconds, he shoved his hand anxiously through his hair, leaving it disheveled and unruly when he turned back to Logan. It didn't help his already slightly manic appearance. "The blood. Right. He's trying to put you in a blood bond. It's what happens when one vampire drinks another vampire's blood, especially if the one they drink from is older. And we are. We're four hundred and seventeen, and that's what drove me mad." He stopped again, and shivered, frowning down at his feet and trying to pull himself back on topic. "Sorry," he said, a little sheepishly. "I can get a bit carried away every now and again. Anyway. I was telling you about the blood bond, wasn't I?"

((Nonono! Don't worry, it's fine! <3 I still luff you.))
"Yes," Logan said impatiently, "you were. What's a blood bond? What does it do?" He rubbed his forehead. All of this new information was starting to give him a headache. Not particularly caring that he was about to hit the other vampire with a truckload of questions, he went on, "Why did Luc- the Vicomte- whoever the hell he is want me in a blood bond, anyway? And what's five minds doing in one body?"
He stopped, finally, suddenly realizing just how tired he was. None of this was helping his state at all. He was still by himself, still without the slightest clue what to do, and on top of everything else, he was wrapped up with this lunatic who could be making the entire situation up. One by one, he could have dealt with this. But how was he supposed to manage it all at once?

OOC You're still free to kill me. I should probably finish my exams first, though... And then there's the Leavers' Ball to deal with... June 30th any good for you? (Sorry, in other words)
IC Laurence smiled, a little sadly.
"I said. We're mad. We started off as one person, but we went insane. I think it was sometime after we became a vampire, but I can't be sure. You see, we can't remember who was first - each of us thinks we were the original, and the others are the delusions, but we don't know. Only Simon and I really acknowledge that the others are as real as we are. The Vicomte convinces himself we don't exist. And we can't see what the others are thinking, only what they do and say."
He paused, then shrugged and said, "But that's not the important thing here. The blood bond is. It's an old technique vampires used to use to keep their followers loyal. You see, if you're in a blood bond to another vampire, you're forced to obey their every command, to the letter. It removes all your free will. I don't know why the Vicomte wants to enslave you, but it can't be good."
Stopping again, he frowned, then looked at his own hands and said quietly, "I don't understand. Cade has us in a blood bond. I know Saladin escaped when Cade released us from all our commands, but he caught us again. I don't know how the Vicomte managed to get away. We should be -"
He broke off suddenly, almost choking, then clenched his fists and gasped, "Quickly. I don't... What else do you need to know?"
