Like the ones you mentioned from Creation, Ru.
^_^ Explain! Detail! Pass on!
Ahem. Yep, I'd like to know how to play many of these games - and any more you can think of that are suitable for wide open spaces. You see, for my birthday I'm planning a day of Wide Games in our local park.
Such as Capture the Flag style stuff, and Water-pistol Stalking, and maybe a treasure hunt of sorts... Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Okay. If it's going to be warm, you must must MUST do a slip 'n' slide. Basically, find a hill, lay out a big tarp and get something to hold down the corners, run a hose down it constantly, and dump dish soap on it. WARNING: You will get wet, grassy, dirty, sore, and possibly cut up. But it's so much fun! xDxDxD ADVICE: DO NOT try to do a dogpile. Ever. I would advice not doing this in a bikini. Shirts and shorts are good.
You could have a Spoons tournament... you don't really need wide spaces, but it's still great fun! It's a card game where everyone gets four cards, and the dealer picks up a card, then passes it to the next person, who looks at it and then passes it... etc. You go through the whole deck as fast as you can. The objective is to get four of a kind- four jacks, four twos, etc. You can only have four cards in your hand at once. If you see a card that you want to keep, you exchange it for one of the ones in your hand. Once you get four of a kind, you grab a spoon (which have been sitting in the middle of everyone the whole time. There is always one less spoon than there are players, musical-chairs style.) Once someone grabs a spoon, everyone else has to, too. Whoever is left without a spoon is out. You discard a spoon and then start over, until there's only one person left. ^^ My hands are all scratched up from fighting Connor for spoons.
I have more, but I have to go to bed now. I'll post 'em tomorrow! Byebye!

Reverse strip poker: Find a huge array of different clown clothes, and whne you lose a hand of poker, make someone put a article of crazy clothes on. See who gets dressed the funniest.
Egg race: Eggs on a spoon. Run. Easy enough?
Buy Nerf dart guns (the darts are all foam with a small suction cup) and have full war games in the woods (parks, county or state woods), including camoflage makeup and clothes, and for wounds, they must mark where they are hit and behave accordingly, (aka if you are shot in the leg, you must bandage and behave wounded) kill shots ARE kills. This can also be done in malls, thru the neighborhood, etc as long as you dont shoot at moving cars.
Elemental wars!: Strips of cloth signifying different elements (knowing Calpyso and all) and beanbags that match. Water defeats fire, etc, and the beanbags are missles of that person's element. Three direct missles equal death. What element defeats the others?

Bubble Blowing Contest -- either make your own syrup, or have the kids attending bring a few big bottles each. Fill up a low kiddie pool with it, and then dip anything with a 'O' shape, including hula-hoops, bubble wands, anything. See who gets the longest bubble, the biggest, etc. You will get sticky, though, so do before slip-and-slide.
((Recipe: 2 cup Dawn dishwashing detergent, 6 cup water, Almost 1 cup Karo light corn syrup. Combine, shake, let settle 4 hours. If mix is covered in refrigerator it extends suds shelf life. Allow to warm before using. Costs about $1.50 per gallon. Bubble Tips: 1. If foam develops scrape off with a stiff card. 2. Keep suds clean from dirt and grass. 3. Bubbles are best on humid days. 4. Protect suds from direct sun. ))
Make Your Own Ice Cream: easy to find on various websites, with coffecans (bigger ones and the huge ones). If this costs too much then....
Clodhoppers: Easy to make, and they make a lot of noise! Two large coffee cans, preferably metalones. Have grown up punch two holes near the unopened end of each can. Thread plastic clothesline or rope through the holes and tie the ends together, long enough for the kids to be able to hold on. Pull on strings as you walk on your tin-can stilts. Fun to see how many kids can 'clomp' in unison-- different sizes can make different noises. See if you can play a song, or have them stomp to a song in time!

*giggle*
I'm now imagining the tortured, disbelieving looks on some of my friends' faces if I tell them to try and "stomp to a song in time!"
;D The age range is going to be from about 15 to 19... And we're all usually eminently sensible and mature people. ^_^ Childish is good, but I'm not sure how much I can get away with before it dissolves into me being attacked by a large group of people who've had enough of being patronised...

To make things worse for everyone (including yourself) see if you can get someone to tape it all, to be played later on as blackmail.
Ah, but in your first post, you never said ANYTHING about ages. So poo-wee to you. I -WE- tried.

*bangs head repeatedly off the desk* Gosh darn it, it was a good game, too! I did think of one... though you probably won't do it... lol... particularly if your friends dislike being sticky. This isnt' the one I forgot, but it's FUN. Picture tug-of-war. Insert tarp beneath rope. Insert ice cream in the middle of the tarp. Picture losing team covered in ice cream. We did that at youth group last year. ^^ FUN. But I will go nuts if I can't remember- I REMEMBERED! *dances with Lali and Shira* I don't know if you've ever played Ultimate Frisbee, but it's fun. You split up into teams, and the point of the game is kinda like football or soccer. You have to get the frisbee past the other team's goal- which can just be a couple of traffic cones or something. You have a coin toss to decide who gets the Frisbee first. One person on the winning team has the frisbee, and the rest of the team runs towards the other team's goal. The person with the frisbee has to throw it to one of their teammates. Here's the catch- if you have the frisbee, you can't move! You have to throw it to one of your teammates. If someone fails to catch the frisbee, or if it's intercepted, you start over at the middle of the field, only the other team has the frisbee. We play that A LOT at band camp... which is twelve days from now...

Mrrow. *hugs Broadband*
Although the internet phone connection wire thingy is a bit broken at the moment and apt to fall out (literally) at any moment. *worried looks* So I'm having to be very very nice to it and not trip over the wire. (The computer is in a completely different room to the phone sockets...)
