Liam blinked at Charlie for a second or two, then decided not to comment. He managed to keep his eyes off the cigarette packet as Charlie put it away, feeling a pang of regret that he'd given them away, but telling himself that he really didn't want or need them - after all, he had the fun and excitement of this modelling business to look forward to. Bizarrely enough, that didn't ring quite as falsely as he'd expected it to.
Smiling slightly, he told Xian Li, "I can do most days, from late morning to early afternoon... I mean I'd have to leave before half-four, and I wouldn't be able to get anywhere much before ten in the morning. What sort of times were you thinking of?"

Xian Li shakes his head. "That's fine. Perfect actually. I currently work night shifts and have morning class, but since it's the last three weeks before the portfolios are due, we basically have class time off to work on it. So I can catch some z's before the session. S'all good," he says with a smile.
"As for your crazy schedule, that's fine. Come whenever you can come. You can bring Kayla if you'd like. I wouldn't mind," he said to Charlie.

Charlie nodded. He couldn't leave Kayla alone, no matter what he was doing.
"So it'll be at your place, then?" he asked.
((ARG!! it's short.... riemman's gonna kill me for this one....))

Riemman nodded. "I didn't hear any complaints earlier, so I guess so, unless anyone's got some complaints now," he chirped, flashing a cheeky grin.

OOC Eep, sorry for the wait.
IC "That's alright with me," Liam shrugged, and then added, "as long as you tell us where exactly your place is before we have to be there..."
Smiling again, he then asked, "And what will we actually be doing? I mean, I told you, I've no experience of this sort of thing. Will we be standing around for hours on end, or what?"
OOC *sigh* So mine's quite short too...

((STUPID COMPUTER ATE MY POST!!))
Charlie let Xian Li answer, especially since he saw Kayla rolling over onto her stomach, before looking around for him, thumb still in her mouth. He walked over to her, and picked her and the baby blanket up, his arm under her bottom.
Kayla shyly looked at Xian Li and Liam as Charlie walked back over to the small group. She still was tired, as she only got a half-hour nap or so, and ready to go somewhere a little bit warmer.
((Ek. It's better than the first post, but not as long...))

((I'm sooooo sorry!!!! My professors decided to be evil and all of a sudden I had a million more assignments than I expected. Although it's partially my fault for not checking the syllabi more carefully. >_<))
Xian Li shook his head. "No, you're not gonna be standing around for hours on end. A modelling session usually consists of the model doing several different poses held for usually about five or so minutes, depending. Occasionally, I might ask you to hold the pose a little longer if I really like it and want to get down some more detail in the preliminary sketch.
And you don't have to stand all the time. I have stools and several other things you can use as props if you want. Honestly, just relax and have fun with it. You don't have to be all stiff; in fact, it's better if you're not. You can talk while you model and fun, witty banter is usually present," he finished with a grin.
Spotting Kayla, he gave her a bright, friendly smile. He loved children and he'd often taken care of his younger sister by seven years. "Hi Kayla," he greeted cheerfully.
Pausing slightly he turned back to Liam and Charlie. "Oh, my flat's 3482 Green Street, third floor. It's a large gray building. Kind of hard to miss," he said with a grin.

OOC *whimpers* Please don't kill me for taking this long... At least not until I've finished TAVOT...
IC Liam nodded along to Xian Li's explanation, saying, "Okay," quietly as he finished. He was still slightly nervous about the whole idea, though rather more excited now, since it was such a new experience for him.
He gave Kayla a shy smile, not sure what to say, and his gaze moved to Charlie for a moment, before he turned back as Xian Li gave them his address. Nodding again, he repeated it a few times in his head until he was sure he'd remember it, and then looked at his watch.
"Hey, look, I've got to go," he said, rather apologetically. "When do you want me to turn up at your place?"

((*hides* Don't hurt me! I beg of thee -- and I'll try and get Riemman to make an apparence soon, I promise.))
Kayla shyly smiled before burying her head into Charlie’s neck. She could be quite the character sometimes; she would giggle to something stupid and then become awfully shy in a matter of seconds.
Charlie, putting one hand on the small of her back, could actually see the gray building Xian Li said he lived at. In fact, it was just last month that he had been on the street over, fighting a fire, and their trucks had flew past the flat on their way there.
At Liam’s gaze, Charlie felt a small weight fall in his stomach. Had he lost another chance at a friend because of Kayla? Not many took his status as a single father all that well, especially after they found out he was gay on top of it.
Taking a deep, unnoticeable breath, he waited for Xian Li to answer. He had to get going himself – Kayla really needed to take a nap, and he needed one too. He needed to get started on dinner if he wanted to make that beef stew he wanted to try and make for the first time.
“I got to go too,” he added.

Xian Li nodded. "That's all right," he said. "You can honestly come by anytime you'd like. I'm going home now and I'll probably stay there all day and all the rest of this week and next just trying to finish some of my drawings."
He paused, and turned to rummage through his portfolio, ripping a piece of paper from a back sheet of a sketchbook and grabbing a pencil. Ripping the piece in two, he wrote his cell number on each and handed it to the other two men.
"Just give me a call before you come over, kay?" he asked with a smile.

Liam nodded, glancing at the number and then folding the paper and putting it in his pocket. He smiled at both of the others, saying, "Okay. I might stop by tomorrow then, if that's alright. I'm not doing anything else." Hesitating a moment more, he glanced at his watch again, said, "I've really got to go. I'll see you, anyway," and, after one more glance between the two of them, and a smile at Kayla, still hiding in Charlie's neck, he turned and started walking away. He managed to resist the urge to glance back. All in all, though, he couldn't help thinking, as he dashed home to get his uniform before heading out to the joys of work at McDonald's, that the day had been a surprising success already. OOC Ugh. This is my grand return? Would you like to take the firing squad option, or go for the old traditional - I'm sure I've got a gallows ready somewhere, and the noose fits me decently...

((Decent nooses won't work. And my total constant grand return should be soon.))
Charlie folded the peice of paper into two, and he... well.. he kept it in his hand. His jeans were still wet from the water, and it would be kind of silly to smudge the pencil. Charlie knew how annoying pencil smudges were from all the times Alice would storm around the apartment, pissed that a drawing of hers was messed up.
"I have shift tomorrow," he said, thinking out loud. "But the day afterward, in the afternoon, works well for me. Yeah." Charlie smiled.
Going out on a ledge, a very large ledge for him, Charlie asked Xian Li, "Um.... my apartment isn't that far from yours...." he took another deep breath. "Wanna walk together?"

"Day after tomorrow int the afternoon sounds good, and yeah, walking together would be great," Xian Li replies, giving Charlie a broad grin. The man was cute, and, despite the fact that he had a daughter and therefore most likely a wife or girlfriend, it'd be nice to be friends with him at least.
Returning the pencil to its place in his portfolio, he picked up the giant thing and turned back to Charlie. "Where to?"

((I had a decently beautiful post typed up. And then when I hit Submit, the stupid server wouldn't connect. Grr.))
As Xian Li was gathering up his supplies, Charlie went back to where they had been lying on the ground. He placed Kayla into the stroller, making sure the baby blanket fully covered her. Kayla stuck her thumb back into her mouth, her head tilting slightly to the left side.
He folded up the blanket, placing both the blanket and the diaper bag into the bottom of the stroller. Charlie put the paper that had Xian Li's number on it in the carrier on top of the stroller. He slipped on his socks and shoes, grateful for the warmth they provided to his freezing toes.
"The other side of the park is the easiest way to get there," he said, placing his glasses on the top of his head. He really needed to find his contacts.

Xian Li nods with a smile. Noticing Kayla he paused for a minute, sudden inspiration striking. "Hold on a sec," he says, digging back into his portfolio for one of his smaller sketchbooks; it was letter-sized and had easily detachable sheets unlike his wirebound sketchbooks. Opening to a clean sheet and taking a soft pink pastel he quickly sketches something out in broad loose strokes.
Tugging the page out, he holds it briefly in his mouth while he puts the sketchbook and pastel stick away. Taking the sheet in his hands again, he moves to kneel in front of Kayla. Giving the small girl a friendly smile, he hands her the sketch. It's a quick, but well-done and awfully cute cartoonish bunny with floppy ears, rounded paws and a big smile. It was sitting up and holding a daisy in it's handpaws. It looked more like a stuffed animal bunny than anything else really. "For Kayla," was scrawled near the bottom, with small chinese characters, his name, delicately placed near the bunny's left hindpaw.
"Here you go. For you," he grins at her before taking his portfolio up again and turning back to Charlie. "We should probably get going. You guys are soaking wet. I'm sorry I made you wait," he says sheepishly.
