Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband has this awesome song (and cd) called Dream Big. I saw "Dream Big", one of their best songs, on Yahoo Music Videos, and fell in love with them. They are a 'funkadelic' group, according to "Banjo Boy," and I figured everyone should at least see the "Dream Big" music video even if they don't like country music. It isn't a country song -- it's more of the song to live by.
The whole cd is superb. You have to buy it. I probably listened to it about fifty times the first day I got it (maybe I'm exaggerating, but it's worth lying about). They are slightly on the blue-grass side, but it's only slightly. The thing is, they've never hit it big, and I don't understand why. I've only heard them once on the Milwaukee station when I was up in Wisconsin, on the top 40 countdown, but other than that, I haven't ever heard them on the radio, which is a crime against nature. Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband have the songs and the sounds to make it big.
"Never Give Up" and "Oh How I Miss You" (9 and 10, respectfully) are other awesome songs. "Never Give Up" is another song to live by, as "Oh How I Miss You" is a gut-buster. He claims he's missing someone, and yet, in the background, there are horns and whistles and it's set to almost a party beat.
I swear, it'll be the best 15-ish dollars you'd ever spend on a cd. Ru, they are even better than Rascal Flatts, and that's saying a lot.
Here's the lyrics, if you can't hear/see the video:
When you cry be sure to dry your eyes,
cause better days are sure to come.
And when you smile be sure to smile wide,
and don't let them know that they have won.
And when you walk, walk with pride,
and don't show the hurt inside,
because the pain sill soon be gone.
And when you dream, dream big,
As big as the ocean blue.
Cause when you dream it might come true.
When you dream, dream big.
And when you laugh be sure to laugh out loud,
cause it will carry all your cares away.
And when you see, see the beauty
all around and in yourself, and it will help you feel okay.
And when you pray, pray for strength
to help to carry on when the troubles come your way.
And when you dream, dream big,
As big as the ocean blue.
Cause when you dream it might come true.
When you dream, dream big.
When you cry be sure to dry your eyes,
cause better days are sure to come.
And when you smile be sure to smile wide, and
don't let them know that they have one.
And when you laugh be sure to laugh out loud,
cause it will carry all your cares away.
And when you see, see the beauty all
around and in yourself, and it will help you feel okay.
And when you pray, pray for strength to
help to carry on when the troubles come your way.
And when you dream, dream big,
As big as the ocean blue.
Cause when you dream it might come true.
When you dream, dream big.
And when you dream, dream big,
As big as the ocean blue.
Cause when you dream it might come true.
When you dream, dream big.
