((Some language...New character...^^))
Joniak looked around before sneaking into the caravan, which was where Josselin was taking a nap. He crawled over to him, slipped under the blanket, and nuzzled his neck. It was unusually cold outside, and he was thankful for the extra warmth.
Josselin snuggled back against him. "You're freezing."
"An' you're warm," Joniak said, wrapping an arm around him. Josselin mumbled something in agreement.
"You know, Faye's going to look in here for you," he said after a while.
Since it was so cold out, all hands were needed to be out there to help sure the smaller kids were warm enough, the horses didn't freeze, and that the food they were carrying didn't spoil.
"Za said I needed to rest since I was up nearly two days in a row."
"Dunno how you can do that..." Josselin yawned.
"It helps me think. Anyway, I had an idea."
Josselin shivered at the feel of lips against his ear. "Really?"
"Uh-huh. Later, though."
Josselin dozed back out. Both of them had stayed up from when the cool front came in until it had broke a few hours ago, but Josselin, having gotten a headache, was told to go lay down only a day in. Joniak, awake from sleep deprivation, had finally ordered by Zaza to get some rest before she made him get some rest.
Still cold, Joniak ran his hand up Josselin's shirt, tucking his feet into the warm pocket the other's had created. Josselin pulled away from him, hissing, before he turned and pinned him down on the floor. "I'm up now, jerk. What was the idea you had?"
Joniak groaned at the pressure. "Get off."
He moved backwards before leaning forward, hands holding himself up. "What's the idea?"
"Get off."
"I'll get off when you tell me your idea."
"I'll tell you my idea when you get off me." Joniak looked up at him, the few inches separating them seeming so much farther. He raised a hand and cupped the back of his head, pulling him down into a kiss. Even though he wanted to kiss the rest of the afternoon away, Joniak flipped over sharply, successfully pinning down Josselin underneath him, kiss unbroken.
Josselin made a happy mewling noise as Joniak broke the kiss, mouth moving down his chin and to his ear. "Idea first."
"You're mean."
"Nope, just a tease." He got off of Josselin, sitting up next to him. "Sit up and close your eyes."
Josselin complied, rolling his eyes underneath his eyelids as Joniak moved behind him, and started to play with his hair. Even then it was shoulder-length, and black as the moonless sky. "That's the idea?"
"Hush it."
A piece of cloth went over his eyes before being tied in the back. "This is new," he said, touching it.
Joniak moved in front of him and sat down. "Open your eyes."
He did. "Sykken!" Josselin put his hands out, testing what he saw. "Your aura...it's not as bright."
"Exactly."
"But how?"
"I'm not sure. Told you it was only an idea. You said that the brightness gave you the headache, and what's better to block out light than a black eye band?" Joniak grabbed one of his boyfriend's hands, and nibbled on the wrist, a hidden weak spot.
Josselin purred, pulling Joniak into another embrace. It didn't last long, as Joniak mumbled, "Not now....too tired..."
And he was. His aura was starting to show the colors of extreme exhaustion. Josselin laid back down.
/Here he is, telling me he has an idea, then goes to sleep!/ Josselin thought to himself.
"Heard that," Joniak curled up into him, linking his hand through the other's, and was asleep in minutes.

A persistent rapping on the caravan slip made Josselin open one eye, then the other one, before detaching himself from under Joniak. He opened the flap just a bit and found Faye standing there, the stick she had been using raised. As Joniak looked like their father, with dark eyes and hair, she took after her mother, with blond-red hair and light colored eyes. Faye was almost two years older than him, being ten going on eleven.
"Frederick said that Joniak had potato duty tonight," she said, annoyed.
"And Zaza said that he could sleep, since we were the ones up most of the time." Josselin defended.
"And Frederick said that he had potato duty tonight, since he skipped duty last night and the night before. And what is that funky looking thing on your head?"
"Joniak's idea." Faye snorted.
"Aren't you supposed to be riding out later?"
"Yeah."
"So why you bugging us?"
"BECAUSE FREDERICK SAID HE HAD POTATO DUTY!" She yelled.
Josselin smirked. "Fine. I'll tell him. And don't be so nervous -- tonight's going to go fine."
"Don't tell me not to be nervous; I'm allowed to be. I'll tell him myself." Faye climbed into the caravan, and kneeled next to Joniak, nudging him with the stick.
But he had already perfected the "I'm so tired that I'm still sleeping even though you're yelling at me" charade, but that was before she poked him in the stomach. "Knock it off, Faye!"
"Then get up."
"If you don't leave me alone, I'm going to chop off your head, stick it on a pike and give it to the Ryders themselves. Freely." He added on the last word with malice.
Joniak opened his eyes soon enough to be able to see her face transmit several different emotions at the same time. First there was anger, then embarrassment, then fear before it returned to anger.
Josselin struggled not to laugh out loud at the statement, but there were tears of laughter.
She lunged at him, using the stick to hit him. As soon as it broke, she used her fists, feet, anything she could use. Joniak was yelping in pain, unable to stop his half-sister from doing some real damage to his arms and torso before Josselin stepped in, restraining her. Faye nearly got out of his grasp several times, but he was able to hold on until she spent herself out.
"One of these days I'm going to sneak up on you and....and....cut off that hair of yours!" She spat back, trying to lunge at him again. Josselin held on tight, though.
"Faye, go outside and beat up someone else. Tell Frederick that he'll be out in a little bit, okay?" Josselin said, all but having to drag her to the flap, and she complied, for once. Maybe it was the fact that another one of the elders was asking what the hell was going on in there, or the fact that, even though she was stronger than Josselin, Faye knew that she wouldn't be able to get out of his grip.
As Faye made up a lie about what had happened, Josselin walked over to Joniak, who was inspecting the damage done to him. Bruises ran up and down his chest as well as arms, and a very nice blow had gone to his head, which was already drawing scant amounts of blood.
"Why do you hate her so much?" he asked, rubbing his fingertips on the bruises, trying to heal it the best he could.
"I don't," Joniak said, wincing. "She hates me."
"Why?"
"I don't know. Because she's a girl, that's why."
Josselin rolled his eyes, moving on to the next bruise. He wasn't able to get rid of the marks, nor the harsher pain, but he was able to get rid of most of the initial discomfort so he'd be able to move without showing that he and Fay got into yet another fight.
"Can't you see that she only picks fights with you before she has to go to the Ryder camps?"
Joniak thought about it for a moment. "Yeah, but why am I the one she vents her frustration on?"
"Because she knows you won't go to Zaza anymore with your battle wounds, that's why." Josselin smiled.
Joniak groaned as his head finally started to pound. Josselin moved his hands up there, rubbing it gently. "It's hard for her, having her name on the Wanted ads like that, still going in to get more kids back. You know how bad it is, having to go in the middle of the Ryder grounds and announce that she's taking them back. You never know when the Ryders are going to snap and kill her, and she feels that. That's why she vents it out on you."
"Still thinks she's a pain in the ass."
