((This will amuse you. You are forewarned. XD ))
"Issex!" Saix yelled out amongst the noise and clamor of the other gypsies sitting around the campfires drinking and sharing stories and jokes and idle chatter.
"Issex!"
The damn cat could never stay out of trouble. Zaza claimed that he spent way too much time around Saix and had learned too many of his mannerisms, and that was why he was so troublesome. That Issex was simply a reflection of Saix himself. Saix wasn't sure the comparison was accurate, and swore that he wasn't as troublesome as Issex could prove to be, even though Zaza disagreed.
Either way, it was nearing midnight and the stupid cat didn't want to appear. Saix was getting worried, even though he'd never admit it and hid it well behind a facade of annoyance. Issex was already a little over a year old, but Saix could never quite forget the tiny little creature of wrinkled skin covered in downy fuzz with tightly closed eyes and ears that uttered pathetic little mewls every so often. So even if Issex was big enough to take care of himself, he always worried about the troublesome cat getting into fights with some of the older male cats or the dogs or running into some wild animal in the surrounding forest that thought year-old kitties a nice snack between meals.
Huffing angrily, Saix made his way through the camp, picking his way through the throngs of cheery men downing ale and the still-busy women bustling about finishing their final tasks before settling to sleep for the night. Random cats and dogs wandered among the gypsies or lay napping in an area of the camp rarely trod upon. Saix studied each cat carefully, but none was his.
Just about ready to give up, he finally spotted a familiar white coat with familiar black markings drinking out of an ale tankard that had been set down on the ground. Stalking towards the cat, he grabbed him roughly under the forelegs and lifted him up to face him. Issex mewled in annoyance and batted a forepaw at him, but the paw was a little off target and the mewl sounded almost slurred. Issex then let out what appeared to be a little cough, and Saix almost panicked thinking that he'd maybe gotten sick, but the small cough was followed by another, and then another, each almost equally spaced apart.
Saix bit his lip in order to stop the grin from spreading across his face. Issex had hiccups. Issex was drunk. Saix sniggered a little. His stupid cat had gone and gotten himself drunk. Sighing softly, though still with a huge grin on his face, Saix shook his head and held Issex close to his chest and began the trek back to Zaza's tent. He was tired and wanted to sleep now that he'd found Issex. He wasn't so sure he wanted to see Issex with a hangover next morning however.
Issex seemed to resign himself to his fate, flopping his head on Saix's shoulder, his eyes half-lidded in his drunken state.
Upon arriving at the tent, he entered to find a few other cats had retreated here as well to get away from the slight chaos at the campfires. A couple of Issex's littermates were here, as well as a couple other year-olds from another cat's litter.
Saix set Issex down and nearly laughed as he watched the wobbly way he made his way over to greet the other cats. Issex, who normally had a very good sense of balance and walked with an air of grace and arrogance -yes, arrogance- was now reduced to a stumbling ball of fur and oddly crossed paws.
Finally reaching the catpile, Issex gave each of his littermates a head nuzzle and mewl and moved on to greet the other cats. Saix fought back another grin as Issex appeared to greet one of them in a particularly friendly fashion, rubbing his head against the others and mewling loudly, often giving licks. The other cat rubbed back before standing and padding out of the tent.
Saix howled with laughter as he watched his cat stumble his way after the other one. Tears ran down his face and he shook his head in response to Zaza's questioning glance. Issex had just followed after Raki, one of the male cats owned by one of the horse breeders. It just figured his cat was gender confused.
