Stuck on how to start your newest novella/short story/fanfiction? Here's a good way how.

Action: Start writing an action scene. That doesn't mean knives and guns; two characters talking is fine. Just have something going on. This should be anywhere between 3/4 of a page to 1 and 1/2 pages.
Background: Now, get into the background of the story. Where are they? How are they connected? What are they wearing (if you hadn't mentioned that already?) Answer some questions. This can take as long as it's needed, as long as it isn't overly long.
Develpment: Develop your characters more; get on with the story / plot line. Develop the story, alternating between action and background, if it's needed to keep said story alive.
Climax: What's the climax of the story? How does it end?
Ending: Finally, wrap up all the pieces nicely (or not, if that is how your story ends) and end it.
