Sairen withdrew a letter from a saddle bag and began to read it boredly. A djinni was an interesting creature, one she had not the please of studying but interesting enough. Inside she was bubbling with emotions; she at first was a bit shocked to see the dragon and let down her gaurd long enough to let her emotions show. Hopefully none had seen her, but just as a precaution she glanced at it from the corner of her eye.
She knew how awkward it was for her to be there; all she did was press questions upon the rider, the arrogant fool, and then practically invited herself into their party. A slight smile played her lips as she mused over the entire situation, though no one had forcefully objected she was still on her gaurd. It actually surprised her that she had lived thru the night and not one of her possessions were gone.
Her eyes trailed back to the dragon and she looked up at it with a relaxed expression but fearful eyes. Her mare began to stamp the ground nervously. A cold sweat broke out and Sairen found herslef shaking as she took a swig of water. Wiping her face with a cloth she buried her hands in Iralle's mane as her eyes darted from person to person to wyvern to djinni.

((Very sorry for the long wait. I kinda died for a while. And then I got sick and had stupid state testing. But now I post! Shira will be very happy. She's been harping at me. >_<))
Riemman looked around and figured everyone was as ready as they were going to be. And if they weren't, well, tough luck. Turning briefly to Kyvvas, he murmured a soft order to fly above them on lookout. Only Joniak(and Shira he supposed, as she was traveling with him) and the lady(he didn't care to remember her name) had horses, so he figured he'd walk with them. Kyvvas could keep watch and help if needed.
"I'm assuming we're all done here. If you're not, that's your problem," he stated with a trademark smirk and promptly took off in the direction of Rosengard at a brisk pace as Kyvvas took to the air.

((Shira's been harping at you to post on the spoof......))
Joniak catapulted himself on the horse, and quickly followed Saix/Riemman, trying to make sure the stupid horse didn't try and kick him off.
Shira followed the boys, shooting dirty looks at Joniak for the morning's ouburst. He could've gotten himself killed, and he didn't understand that! Grr.
((Ah! Sorry, I can't think anymore.))

Calypso set off after the others in silence, keeping his eyes on Shira. The Ryder seemed to be in the mood for walking, so he would stay at the front of the group, and Joniak, on the horse, was still riding a little ahead of Shira, so theoretically it'd be easy to talk to her on her own. Ah, theory.
He glanced briefly back at the others, then sighed to himself, and caught up with Shira before she got too close to the others again.
After a moment, he said softly, "How did you know Jared?"

((Just so you know, Lali, Jared's house isn't all that far from Rosenguard, if he wants to go check it out or something))
After turning over some answers in her head, all that were false, she finally told the truth. "I lived with him for several years after he bought me from Ti'Gri and Skel City," she said, hoping that no one heard her. She hated revealing where she came from, even though it was in her past.
Jared was the type of guy who would free slaves, especially slave children, just because he had the extra money.

Mounting swiftly, Sairen mumbled something under her breath making her mare trot to catch the others. She was quite surprised that they we travelling on foot; considering they had a wyvern, a djinni, and a mage or two she had rather hoped of better transportation. Well, the good thing was she could search for her children while she traveled. Sairen slowed her mare to a walk, falling in a short distance behind the others. Reaching into her pack a dark belt was produced and she deftly secured herself to the saddlehorn. Trotting Iralle closer to the others, so she would follow them and not have to be guided, Sairen drifted into a half sleep.

It was different everytime she entered the foggy land, but never before had she entered and arrived before a structure. This was not the Temple she was use to but it was from the same materials and built in its likeness. The sturcture looked to be a house, except for the open windows and gaping door which fog rolled in and out of on a whim.
Sounds of sobbing echoed off the stone structure, forcing the mother to push forward onto its steps. "Calieb? My child, is that you?" Sairen stood in the doorway and peered into the darkness where she heard the noise.
"M-mumma?" More rustling in the darkness before a small boy scant half a score of years buried himself in his mother's cloak.

"Oh, my child!" She fell to her knees and hugged him to her breast. "Tell me, my youngest, are your sister and brother well?" He nodded in reply unable to speak and tears whelled in his hazel eyes and streaks his face. "They haven't hurt you, have they?" He shook his head and looked at the floor, unable to meet her gaze. "Well what is wrong, my dear?" At this time she felt her body jostle upon the horse, and for a split second she could see both her child and the group she travelled with.
((Er, not my best but will try better next time.))

Jakkin firmly ignored Queezle as they set off after the group- which was no small feat, as she had settled on his shoulder and was nibbling at his hair.
The young thief trailed slightly behind the group, still bitter at the djinni's insistance that they come along. He wasn't about to bother asking her why; the only answer he'd be likely to get was an annoying grin and a sing-song, "You'll see".
He looked ahead to the group, frowning to himself.
The Ryder had quickly made it to his Dislike list. Authority had never sat very well with Jakkin, and besides, the man was an idiot wearing too-big boots. Shira and Joniak hadn't exactly thrilled him to death, either- especially, he recalled, glancing at his hand, after his failed robbery against them. The noblewoman and the mage, though... he hadn't placed them yet, but Jakkin had a more-than-vague idea of where they'd go.
It wasn't so much the people that were making him curious as the strange plot that was unfolding, and it was worth more than a headache to organize it all. With any luck, he thought smugly, he'd be able to take a good look through their possessions before long, and help himself.

"Mum," the youngster began as he continued to stare at the floor but broke from her grip. "They say that you won't reach us. Your still going to rescue us right? At least that is what Manny keeps saying but Tes doesn't say anything at all anymore."
This worried Sairen, Mannek, her eldest son, was always a bit on the cowardly side while Testra, her middle daughter, took the part as the bravest. "Calieb, take care of your sister and brother, stay together and I'll find you soon. Trust in your brother ... and sister," she added after a hesitation. "I am going to find your Uncle and then I'll come for you."
"If we don't get to you first!" A mischeavious smile broke across the lads face, making his mother smile truthfully for the first time in a long time.
"How much like your father you are."

Sairen was no longer caressing her son's cheek, some force had blown her out of her dream like state and thrust her into the saddle as if she had fallen. With a groan she unfastened the belt and stored it away before removing a small, leather bound diary.
The personal recollections of Sir Kadrint Amakiir, during my travels with The Gray Knights
After reading the title page she left the book open in her lap and looked to the sky to keep the tears from staining her cheeks. If only he had told her more. It was ture they loved each other, but he tried to keep her safe by not telling her everything. Now she would find out the secrets he kept.
Drying her eyes on her sleeve she sniffed back further tears and gathered herself to continue the difficult act of reading while riding.

Calypso looked away from Shira again, watching the ground and chewing his lip for a moment. He sighed, and glanced back at her, then said, "What was his message? The one he gave to you?"
That was a start. He was halfway to giving up on the whole "Periel" pretence, but he still didn't want the Ryder knowing who he was - or anyone other than those who really needed to know. Being Shira.
He'd got used to avoiding Ryders unless he had some handy prisoners to keep them sweet. If things went badly with Joniak and Shira here, this Ryder might decide to take in a rogue weather mage as compensation. Better to stay unknown for as long as possible.
Though on the other hand, if he had to make a run for it it might be better not to be trapped inside a city at the time. Ah, complications.

Not seeing any problem with letting him see the note, since Jared had magicked it so that only she, Joniak, and the person it was intented for could read it, Shira dug it out of her cloak pocket.
She opened it up, and held it out to him.
The note read:
Caly-
I’m sorry that you had to learn about my death like this, but by the time you get this, I’ll already be dead. But don’t worry; the mages at fault have already been taken care of.
There is just too much to say….. Thank you for everything that you have done for me over the years. All the times you made it rain because you knew it made me mad, or covering the sun with clouds just after I proclaimed that there was sun! And thank you for years of friendship that I never forgot about.
The bearer of this note is named Shira, a child that I saved and took care of. She needs magical help. When she gets too angry or too powerful (it builds up in her) she ‘blows’ up. Can you either help train her to be able to control herself better, or find someone who can? I’m afraid that she’s going to accidentally explode and hurt either herself or kill someone.
Thank you for everything. There is a floorboard under my dresser that has some things that I wanted you to have.....
May only the rain you create damper your dawn.
A big J, followed by sqiggles that consituted as his signature, trailed off the bottom of the page.

Ahead of the group, Riemman marched on silently, brooding. This changed things. He'd never thought that he'd ever meet up with this part of his past again. And they were heading towards Rosengard. He had a sinking feeling that the rest of the gypsy camp was there. It was about the right time of the year. When he'd been posted at Rosengard he'd always avoided the town, especially during the time of year the gypsies were there. He didn't want to face them again, not really.
But he guessed it was high time he stopped running. It was probably time he came to terms with what had happened. He didn't blame any of the gypsies - he knew how cruel the Ryders could be - but he didn't want to face them after such an obvious betrayal. He'd become a Ryder himself.
Glancing back, he noticed the mage speaking with the girl, Shira, and the woman half-asleep on her horse. The boy-thief and the djinni were trailing behind. Joniak was riding just behind him.
Slowing his pace slightly, he walked beside Joniak. When he spoke, his voice was subdued.
"They're at Rosengard aren't they? The rest of the gypsies."

Queezle's delicate-looking head made a full circle around her neck, staring at each of the party members in turn before she determined that none of them were paying herself and Jakkin the slightest bit of attention. The djinni's head snapped back into place, and she stretched a little on Jakkin's shoulder before she turned her head to his ear.
"Now they're all wrapped up in their own little worlds, it's about time I tell you why we're going to Rosenguard."
The thief didn't turn his head, but his eyebrows rose. "I'm listening."
Queezle glanced once more at the others before she leaned so close that her mouth was almost in Jakkin's ear, and began to whisper something so quietly that the boy had to strain to hear her. Before she had finished, his head snapped toward her so quickly that she nearly fell off his shoulder.
"No gods-bless'd hell's teeth way!!" His whisper was urgent and excited, and as Queezle regained her balance she saw that Jakkin's eyes were wide as he stared at her. "How did you-"
"Shhh!" The dragon poked him sharply in the arm with her barbed tail, and Jakkin winced, and lowered his voice.
"How did you find that out?"
The two remained deep in conversation for a while. For the first time, Jakkin almost seemed happy with Queezle, and by the time they finished talking and their plans were set, his mouth was set in a grin that he quickly hid after another poke from Queezle.
((Muhuhahaha... I thought of a GREAT reason for them to stay with the group. I can't believe it took me this long. I felt really stupid, because it looked like they were tagging along for no apparent reason.))

OOC Gwark. Sorry for the wait and the short post. Mweh.
IC Biting the inside of his lip, Calypso read the note, unaware of the magic on it. But reading it hurt. Jared really was gone.
He sighed heavily, and handed the note back to Shira, murmuring, "Alright. Thank you," then looked away to his other side again, blinking a little. He hesitated, then said softly, "I guess there's no point in hiding who I am any more. I am Calypso." He didn't look at her, but hurried on, "Don't tell anyone else. I don't care if it's all that obvious, but if nobody can prove anything I'm hoping they won't want to turn me in anywhere."
Bound by a dead man's request, he turned back to face her, and held out the note, saying, "I'll train you."

Joniak looked over to Riemman, and nodded. "Yeah, they are." He turned back towards his horse, not sure on what else to say.
Shira said, "I won't tell anyone," obviously referring to that morning's little scuffle. "I know what it's like to want to keep your identity quiet." She took the note and put it away. She'd destroy it later, when there was no one around.
She thought over his words for a moment. "Who are you afraid of turning you in?" she asked, hopefully not prying.

"Anyone," Calypso said dryly. "It's not so much who'll turn me in as who'll they'll turn me in to. I've managed to annoy a lot of powerful people with bad tempers, good imaginations, and lots of sharp pointy things at their disposal. I'd prefer not to encounter them any time soon."
He'd prefer not to encounter them at all, in fact. The one thing he feared above all else was pain, and that was precisely what lay in store for him if he was ever handed over to either of the groups that wanted him - the nobles he'd annoyed by robbing them down through the years, or the mages he'd infuriated by refusing to share the secret of his control over lightning.

Sairen stopped reading after the first of the diary's official entires before a fifth tear stained her face. Slamming the small book shut she thrust it into the saddlebag almost angrily. Her features were set in stone as she unconciously caught Peirel's response to Shira about who knew what. Her mind split at that moment- half of it silently festered in coals of emotions while the thnking part puzzled over what he had said. By his response it was obvious that the girl and he had been talking for a while and had made an unseen pact, but why and who he was hiding from was beyond her. There happened to be a good number of powerful people around various lands, so Sairen spent sometime pondering over what the classifications were for a powerful person. As tears dried on her cheeks and her eyes did not itch so Sairen for the first time in six sevendays thought and sorted through something else besides her husbands death and her childrens' abduction.

((Sorry!))
Shira nodded. At least that was taken care of -- she didn't have to worry about finding a Calypso poser who just wanted her dead. But, now that he was training her, they'd both be on the run from the imaginative pointy people. "If anything, Zaza'd know a lot of good hiding places."
She didn't have to worry about explaining who Zaza was -- everyone knew that Zaza was the one that ran the biggest trveling gypsy camp on all the world.
