Absently, Calypso nodded, then hesitated and started to say something, but stopped himself. Now he had two conflicting priorities. He had to keep Shira safe and get her in full control of her magic, while at the same time trying to carry out the thefts he'd been hired for. It wasn't going to be possible to take her with him - no doubt she'd want Joniak with her as well, and three people (and a horse) were much more difficult to keep unseen when sneaking around towns than one lone weather mage.
On the other hand he couldn't abandon the jobs. If he didn't get back to his... employers... with what they'd asked for, his usefulness would be in question. And then there would be even more imaginative people with sharp pointy things. So what to do?
Perhaps... he could be honest for once (good gods!) and maybe even trust someone a little.
"That sounds useful," he told Shira quietly. "I... well, I'm not quite sure how to deal with this yet. I need to think about it a little."

Shira nodded, knowing that all of this was coming as a major shock. It wasn't every day that a good friend died, and you had to take on an apprentice mage. She stuck her hands into the cloak pockets and walked, not really sure what to do. It would be extremely boring if this was how the rest of the four hours was going to go.

They were about an hour out of town. Nothing interesting had been going on in the group.
That was until something large fell out of a tree just up the path., followed by a “Sykken!” and then an “ow…”
Shira grinned, knowing who was on scout duty by the sound of his voice. A tuft of black hair poked out of the coverage. There was a black band of cloth that went over his eyes, tying behind his head and going part way down his back to where his hair ended. Camouflage clothing tied tightly as to not snag on the branches.
“U’uihz wb uehu hua kxfaz?” the camouflaged boy asked as he stood up and brushed the dirt off of his clothes. He walked over to Joniak and Shira, keeping their pace as Joniak responded with, “Shira lowcm huak hdo zhegty vicmam temz, oca copfa-posc likila, a kina, pwh hua symas….” Joniak shrugged, knowing full well that Riemman wouldn’t want his secrets spilled before he had a chance to talk to Zaza.
The younger teen nodded. Joniak continued speaking. “No uiaim icm haff Zaza ho ka’ah wz ih Kyra’s.” The teen looked confused, but after “E’ff aubfaec fihas” he ran off towards the town.

Riemman shot Joniak a somewhat grateful look that was probably missed. He didn't really feel up to Josselin starting to babble on about "Kitty" being back. Really, before anything else, he wanted to talk to Zaza. He owed it to her at least. After that, well, he'd see.
Panic started to well up slowly inside him. Was he really ready to do this? He stamped down on it roughly. It was now or never. And he honestly needed to get over it. He'd never forgive himself if he chickened out now.
Growling out at Kyvvas to keep an eye on Josselin - even though ideally he knew he didn't really need any watching over as he was a Gypsy familiar with the area; it made him feel a little better somehow - he turned and started out in the direction Josselin had gone.
((OOC: I'm sorry I died. I'm back now. TKE will be updated soon, but IT'S MY LAST DAY OF HIGH SCHOOL!!!!! YAY!!!!!!))

Calypso always felt a little uncomfortable when other people spoke languages he didn't know around him. The last person who'd done that had been unnerving in more ways, as well, always confident that she could handle any situation or defeat anyone in a fight, despite the fact that she was little more than a child, and at least ten years younger than him. She'd never explained any of the things she'd said, and that was part of the reason he'd never gone back.
Here he seemed to have a similar situation, and it would be annoying him a lot more if he wasn't aware that the Ryder - Saix, or whatever his name was - was himself irritated, though after his and Joniak's little spat that morning, it was highly possible that his irritation didn't spring from the language being used.
Perhaps the lack of language, he thought, and smiled a little to himself.
He glanced at Shira, deciding to take his cue from her. If they were going to work together, he really would have to learn to trust her.
"Care to explain what's going on?" he asked, keeping his tone curious rather than judgemental.

Don't tell him why. Joniak's voice said in her head.
Why not?
Because I said not to. He dosen't need to know -- he's from camp, from a long time ago. Just don't.
After mentally sighing, "Joniak just told Josselin to bring Zaza to the bowery that we are supposed to go to." Shira said, cutting out why. There better be a good reason why she was cutting out information to the person that was supposed to be teaching her later on, and he knew it.

She marveled at how familiar the language sounded to her, yet cursed herself for encouraging her true being to return to her childhood life. Her parents were probably still roaming around in their wagon, lavishly decorated as it was, following news about her and "that prejudice berserker" of a husband she'd run off with. Guilt clutched her heart as she blankly watched the boy, the Ryder, the girl, and the mage follow the gypsy boy. Dismounting she led her mare after them not wanting to be left alone with a uncontrolled djinni and a theif; it wasn't that she could defend her self it was just that she had too many emotions, questions, and memories clouding her well-trained mind.
((Short I know, but I just wanted to say that it was strange because in her original bio that I based the older version off of she was raised by gypsies. Just thought it was kinda weird that the one roleplay I decide to push her into she is confronted by a past she had forgotten. Kinda off-topic and totally random but I just thought it was sorta neat since this is technically Sairen's debut roleplay. Ha ha, there aren't many who deal with gypsie but I love 'em.))

As Queezle lifted off of Jakkin's shoulder and took the form of a leopard, stalking off after Sairen, Jakkin called her back. The djinni looked irritably over her shoulder, one ear twitching. "What?"
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" he asked under his breath. "It's bad enough being stuck with this lot, but more people?"
"Trust me," Queezle hissed, her cat's eyes glinting dangerously. "I know what I'm doing. We get to Rosenguard, you do your thing, and then we rob them of everything they've got and split."
Jakkin scowled. "If you're wrong," he said seriously, "I'll kill you, Queezle. Don't think I won't."
Queezle sniffed without concern. "You have fun with that," she purred, getting to her paws and continuing on after the others. Jakkin, still scowling, followed her.

Riemman hardly paid attention to the little squabbles behind him, preferring to follow Josselin and be lost in his thoughts. He turned to Joniak though, when realized that he didn't really know where he was going, and the only reason he knew he was on the right path was because he was following Josselin.
"Where exactly is this place anyway?"

"Kyra's is inside Rosenguard, not that far in. Uh...to cut to the chase, she runs a whore-house." Joniak blushed slightly. "And Shira and I helped her re-build it after a fire. That's why she was able to tell where those theives were. All the head boards have the same etching in them, so that was how she was able to tell, also."
Shira looked at him, scowling. Uh oh. He blew his cover -- he really hadn't been sleeping last night when she brought out the globe.

Joniak blushed in what had to be years. "I'm not," he said, glaring at him. "She just thinks I am. It makes everything easier." Joniak grinned, and tipped a wink a Riemman, the blush still highly visible.
--------
Josselin made it to the gypsy camp in record time, and found Zaza in one of the teepee's set up (since they were not going to be living out of the caravans for a month). He skidded to a stop in front of the ancient women and landed on his knees. Josselin waited until he had caught his breath; she wouldn't listen to him otherwise.
"Joniak and Shira are on their way in through the main path. There's a mage, a thief, and a shapeshifter, but the thing is is that there's also a symas with them," he finally said. "The thing is, the symas has the same aura as.....as Kitty." He looked up at her, uncertain, but knowing that he was right. 'Kitty' had always had a special purple twinge in his aura, no matter what emotion he was feeling, and the fact that that the three of them -Josselin, Joniak, and Saix- had all grown up together made him more sure than anything.
Zaza bit on the unlit pipe that was in her mouth. "You sure?"
"Yeah. There's no mistake in it. And they said to meet them at Kyra's."
A long pause came from Zaza. Kitty, finally back! But how did he become..... she let the thought go unfinished. "Okay. Tell Slip-Slip to take your post and come with me to Ky's."
Josselin nodded, and got off of his knees to do what she asked. He had always been the most obedient, and respectful, of the kids she had raised. Both Saix and Joniak always fought with her on what ever she had said, never mattering that she was at least five times their ages.

Calypso was having second thoughts. And third, fourth and fifth, for that matter. What was he letting himself in for?
But he kept going anyway, following the others silently, mentally telling himself that if Shira didn't explain everything before long - and alright, he had some explaining to do as well, but someone had to start the trade of information, and it was not going to be him - he'd abandon her, Jared be damned.
Of course, his second and third thoughts sent in whispers of guilt, of debts to be paid and gratitude that couldn't be ignored. And he sighed, and followed his new charge, reluctantly deciding that he would have to give the whole thing a try, at least. No matter how much he was tempted to slip away on the quiet, he'd stick with Shira for a while. Perhaps she wasn't as desperately in need of a teacher as all that. After all, he control of the image-globe hadn't been too bad. She'd been able to work out where the men were...
He glanced up on hearing a faint echo of his thoughts, and kept the frown off his face. El- Joniak, he amended, hadn't been that deeply asleep after all. But he and Shira hadn't said a word to each other.
Now there was something to think about.

With a few hurried steps Sairen was able to catch up with the rest of the group easily. Keep your composure, you fool! She chided herself realizing she'd been nervously scanning their surroundings as they walked by.
Ever since she'd met up with others her emotions had been on edge, and not to mention the fact that she could not meditate. I'm beginning to think it was a mistake to join up with this troupee. Had she been talking more to herself? Before she could talk to her mare and cry when she wanted to, now she had to keep herself undercontrol. Possibly it was better for her, more like a test than anything.
Yes, this is definitly a test.

Riemman raised an eyebrow at the wink, shaking his head. Joniak hadn't changed much. At least superficially, anyway. Who knew what could have happened in....how long? Eleven, twelve years? Yeah, twelve. The autumnal equinox was coming up. And with it his Zurka.
He wondered how long he was to stay in Rosengard. Technically, he was only coming for "evidence," which he guessed now was only really to cover his ass when reporting to his superior. He decided that he probably wasn't going to actually turn in Joniak, despite what he might threaten, but he didn't really want to think what would happen if he went back empty-handed.
Things had changed since he'd bonded to Kyvvas, but even the wyvern couldn't do much to help him if he was drugged and chained. He'd long since resigned himself to the fact that the people in charge of the Ryders were bastards, some of them literally, who would have no qualms doing "whatever it took," especially in terms of "discipline".
But, maybe, if things went well, he could stay for a little bit. He technically wasn't due to check in for another week or two, and the autumnal equinox was only in a few days. But he'd have to talk to Zaza first. And the gypsies probably wouldn't be too happy to host a Ryder, much less offer Zurkamori rites, no matter who he'd once been.
Drawn out of his musings by a warning growl from Kyvvas, he looked up to see the group coming up to the outskirts of the gypsy town. Glancing back to make sure the rest of the party was still somewhat intact, but not really caring much about them, the looked back at Joniak, raising an eyebrow a silent question of "What next?"

((Zurka means 19, or when a child passes into adulthood, female or male. Zurkamori is the rite of putting the earring into their ear, saying that they are 19.))
Joniak spurred his horse forwards, seeing Zaza and Josselin in the crowd. He quickly rode over there, and, after reining in the horse, jumps off it easily. He grabbed Zaza's hand, and pulled her away from the rest of the group by several dozen feet, Josselin even, and proceeded to explain everything from that morning quietly to her, hoping that everything would work out for S-- Riemman. No gypsy had ever came back alive from a Ryder camp unless they had been sneaked out under the Peace Pact, and even then, that was rare and few, and none of them being an actual ryder themselves.
-------
Shira wasn't exactly sure as to what was going on, but even though she was more annoyed at him than she had been in months, she still trusted him, and all this obviously centered around Riemman. Some things were explainable -- Joniak had told her about Saix, one of the little boys that had been lost during the raids, during the yearly memorial service, but he hadn't said much. She knew that he personally felt responsble for many of the children lost, and she sighed.

Riemman followed a bit more sedately, feeling more than a few hostile stares. He felt horribly out of place among the people he'd spent his childhood with and the feeling made him feel sad. Life didn't like him much did it?
He noticed Joniak take Zaza aside to talk to, probably explaining the situation and he suddenly got nervous. Perhaps this hadn't been such a good idea. Kyvvas sensed his hesitation and gave him an annoyed growl, landing at the edge of the forest. Riemman steeled himself, ignoring the increasingly hostile looks and decided it was better to wait where he currently was instead of approaching the angry crowd.
